The PILS Project and the Nobel Women’s Initiative are proud to present a special free screening of Oh, Sister!
Showcasing the experiences of six extraordinary women in Ukraine, the documentary highlights the active role that women play to safeguard fundamental human rights in the face of conflict.
As Northern Ireland marks 25 years since the signing of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement, we want to shine a light on the experiences of local women in peace building here and explore what ‘everyday acts of peace’ look like in 2023.

Magz Gibney – survivor, creative activist and mental health advocate
Magz is an activist and writer from Belfast. She made global headlines at age 12 with a now legendary letter to Downing Street and went on to campaign for peace and children’s rights, becoming UNICEF Young Ambassador for Peace. Currently, she advocates on women’s rights and mental health and she is part of the community calling for a ‘New Script for Mental Health’; an innovative grassroots campaign coordinated by local human rights group PPR. Magz is also a trauma counsellor, working with Start 360 as their Engage Women’s Service Practitioner and is founder of NI Creative Connections which promotes the therapeutic use of creative arts for personal and social change.
Iryna Kennedy BL – barrister
Iryna is a qualified barrister with more than 17 years’ experience. A long-time ally of The PILS Project’s Pro Bono Register initiative, Iryna has collaborated with several local human rights NGOs on public interest legal issues. In 2022, Iryna returned to her birthplace of Odessa to evacuate her mother and has since raised over £64,000 for the Red Cross’ ongoing operations in Ukraine.
Daina Ruduša – Nobel Women’s Initiative Head of Media and Communications
Daina is passionate about using the power of storytelling for change and drives NWI’s external communications strategy. She is an experienced communicator with over a decade of experience spanning across media relations, campaigning, writing and editorial, and event management roles for climate think tanks, feminist organisations and LGBTIQ NGOs. Having lived in eight countries, Daina (who speaks English, Latvian and Russian fluently) recently relocated back to her native Latvia where she lives with her two rescue dogs Byron and Lilu.
This special screening is jointly hosted by The PILS Project and the Nobel Women’s Initiative, two organisations dedicated to improving human rights.
