Cost of living payment refusal to be challenged by Law Centre NI

Published: November 15, 2022

PILS are very pleased to support Law Centre NI with the finance they need to lodge Lisa’s case in the High Court.

Read the Law Centre NI’s statement here.

Through their advice services, the Law Centre NI’s team have found what appears to be a discriminatory aspect to the Cost of Living payment scheme, which was devised to help some of the most marginalised communities in our society through the ongoing crisis.

The Law Centre NI is challenging a decision to deny their client Lisa* (who is homeless) access to a Cost of Living payment designed to help people during the current crisis.

PILS are very pleased to support Law Centre NI with the finance they need to lodge Lisa’s case in the High Court.

We hope that this public interest legal challenge will result in Lisa – and all the other people who find themselves in a similar situation – being treated fairly and equally to those who are in receipt of the housing element of Universal Credit.
